Capitol Hill Times on Capitol Hill Station

I went to this meeting, but Capitol Hill times has a great round-up on the meeting that happened last month.

When completed, Broadway’s light-rail station will have three entrances. The north entrance, projected to be the station’s busiest, will be at the southeast corner of Broadway and East Olive Way. The station’s south entrance will be at Nagle Place East and East Denny, immediately west of Cal Anderson Park.

A third entrance on the west side of Broadway will be north of Seattle Central Community College, where Chang’s Mongolian Grill used to be. The station itself will be built under Nagle Place. Construction will not, the audience was told, impact Cal Anderson Park.

  1. It is a good thing ST is getting opinions from people in the neighborhood. ST now has experience in maintaining communities while developing light rail stations and lines. MLK has definitely taught ST a lot about the importance of keeping things in the same if not better than before. I think in most cases from word of mouth that I have heard people are much happier with the new MLK. I know that the Pine Street Corridor by Cafe Ladro’s and the Paramount looks much nicer than before. It is more pedestrian friendly as well, as the sidewalks are new and new trees were put up as well. Although I am not sure I understand where the alignment of the stub tunnel is, because it seems that they would have to tear all that out again to start towards capitol hill? Not sure, I am positive they know what they are doing better than I.
