I think we could learn something from Vancouver.

I think many of you are aware that the BC provincial government released a "provincial transit plan" (and coupled with the Gateway Project). I think we need something like that, but not something like Proposition 1. Two transportation plans that add a little capacity to roads and significant capacity to rapid transit; now that's perfect (at least for me).

The only thing I like about Rossi's plan is funding for SR 9 and US 2. Thank God...

I am sick of the lack of progress in Oly, and would not be too proud to vote Republican, but Rossi is a joke.

Great post. I had the same thoughts. Rossi as a slight, possible, maybe alternative. Then read the plan. Oh well...

I'm speechless. Rossi includes the most controversial transportation project of Prop One, Pierce County's crossbase highway. It is Sierra Club's number one bad road project, parallels an existing road, (within a mile) and is an environmental disaster.

John Ladenberg had to threaten to resign as the Chair of Sound Transit to bribe council members to add it back in at the last minute. Does Rossi really want to bring out the Crossbase Coalition, Sierra Club, noted Seattle environmental lawyer David Bricklin, and the legions of environmental groups that have been fighting this road for years?

Guess not only the Democrats have been seeing campaign dollars from Cascadia Corp, the mega sprawl community destined for the little town of Orting, which just reached a population of 5,000. Does 6,500 homes times 2.5 cars per household, with only the two-lane already congested SR 162 as their way out raise red flags? The crossbase is just a way to connect that community and its proposed 3 golf courses, town center, to I-5. Your developer dollars at work again.......

the good news is that Rossi wouldn't be able to use the ST money for roads because of the state consitution Article 11, section 12.
It shows the state has no power to collect or divert local taxes.

To clarify--I should add that Rossi would be much worse. So we should still support Gregoire. But we should hold her feet to the fire on transit.

I was disturbed that in her speech Sunday at the King County Convention, the only issues I heard her mention under transportation were roads and congestion--not a whisper about transit. And this was at a gathering of Democrats! Worrisome.
