Some stories we haven’t mentioned over the last few days:

  • The BBC does a story on American high-speed rail, and highlights Amtrak Cascades. (H/T: Erik)
  • Metro GM Kevin Desmond profiled in Mass Transit Magazine.  (H/T: Orphan Road).
  • Sound Transit awarded the contract to upgrade the Sounder track between M Street in Tacoma to Lakewood, thanks to $4.6m in Federal Stimulus.

The 4th picture down in the Desmond article shows a 177. Where is that??

Erik says:

The bus is not on its route,

Route 177 is one of those Federal Way (“via I-5″!) buses that runs during the peak and skips Sea-Tac.

No, that was me on the BBC article, last week. But who’s counting?

Erik says:

Just wanted to pass this along, about Border Guards Union complaints in Canada over overtime being cut back, and other strains on the system. I wonder if what service with the 2nd Train to BC we are going to get next year, just for the Olympics that is, will also now be cut because of customs issues?
