Four years ago, people in Oslo and Stockholm dressed, moved, and behaved in ways that wouldn’t have born notice at any mall in the US- including the ones of Somali extraction. Helsinki still looked northeastern Baltic, and spoke the least English of the Nordic capitals- but trend is global.
But you know, I’m really grateful I can wear my running shoes to the office here, which would probably mean termination in Detroit, or at least result in back issues of GQ left at my desk every day.
And come to think of it, I think the bicycle squads for both SPD and the Sheriff’s department look exactly like everybody in Detroit thinks Seattle looks. Not a bad look, you think?
