It’s that time of year again: in a little more than a week, we have new bus and train schedules. Sound Transit’s changes, effective June 1, are already online. Highlights:
- The Mukilteo Sounder station opens.
- The Issaquah
Park & RideTransit Center re-opens, affecting the 554, 555, and 556. - More trips for the 550, fewer for the 540.

The 554 is the I-90 analog of the 545.
Which is more excruciating? Getting on the 545 at Bear Creek and crawling thru downtown Redmond to get to the Redmond PnR OR getting on the 554 at Issa Highlands and crawling thru downtown Issa to get to the new PnR?
I take the 540, so I’m sad their cutting service back.
On the Metro front, my commute sometimes involves a transfer at Campus Parkway to the 49, so I read a Rider Alert saying the local version of the 74 is now becoming the 30; 74 will now become exclusively a 71/2/3 clone. Which makes sense, as the two routes had very different termini; 74 local, now 30, went through Wallingford and other places to Seattle Center while 74 express switched to the express lanes near the UW and went to the transit tunnel.

UW is on summer break during the next schedule cycle, so I bet those 540 trips will be back in September.
Oh, that last comment is mine—apparently you don’t get a warning before Blogger defaults your name to ‘anonymous.’
Ericn,
You are correct. It will return in September.
