It’s the Rainier Valley’s turn to have their summer festivals. If you’re looking for a summer excuse to take light rail, this is your weekend.

On Saturday, August 18th, the City is shutting down Rainier Avenue through downtown Columbia City. The “Heritage Parade” runs from 11am-12:30pm, and the “street party” continues till 4. There will be the usual booths and amusements.

The very next day, one stop down is the Othello Park International Music and Arts Festival, from noon to 6pm in the park just behind the new apartments. Food, local music, and more booths.

  1. Can’t wait to see the Othello Park festival! Unfortunately I’m on the opposite side from it, so I won’t be able to hear the music from my apartment… I’ll just have to go hang out on the roof.

  2. Damn. That looks pretty freakin’ awesome, and at 38th and Alaska that’ll only be a block away, but Saturday is already packed between the Sounders match and then a buddies welcome home party for their new adopted son. :(

    1. No. Anyone who can use Link to get downtown is not the target audience for LREOTW.
