  1. That is cool.

It reminds me of backpacking across Europe. I would spend a few days in each city doing the usual college fun stuff, but I would always make sure to take one day out just riding the rails, whether it be lite rail or sub. I wanted to see what life was like outside the city centre. And you never knew exactly what was going to be at the top of that stairwell, or outside that rail station, at the last stop…

    Thanks for the post.

    1. Let’s see, the lines currently under construction will end at the airport and Husky Stadium. If the new Prop. 1 passes the lines will end at Lynnwood P&R, Overlake TC, and Star Lake P&R—all of these are essentially parking lots next to highways. Maybe in 2030, after the next round of expansion.

  2. Very cool. As a NY native I always love good NYC photography.
And I found it very interesting how much transit oriented development was revealed by the photos / videos.
The Woodlawn series talks about how the Woodlawn Cemetery board was really excited that the subway was going to be extended close to their cemetery in 1916 because it would spur growth of their cemetery (it’d make it easier for city folk to visit their relatives’ graves).

We’re talking about a cemetery here! If a cemetery can benefit from rail transit imagine what transit can do for other businesses.
