This one starts off talking about transit and high speed rail.
In the video is Nancy Sutley, the “Chair-designee for the White House Council on Environmental Quality”. The statement is pretty generic, but I am becoming more and more encouraged as time goes on. Even if the stimulus doesn’t do a lot for transit, the administration as other ways of making their positions known.

you really have to ask yourself why we dont already have a top notch rail and transit system in the US considering the popularity of rail and transit in polls and at the voting booth. the only real reason i can think of is special interests exerting their influence to block rail and transit developments at a large national scale.
It’s more if you count the support for all of the various rail related suggestions.
Though I think the ones related to ending the “war on drugs” and leagalizing pot are probably slightly more popular.
