Tomorrow the Growing Transit Communities partnership is holding a free two-part event starting with a panel discussion with national experts followed by lunch and open house. Walk-ins are welcome. Details below:
Please join the Growing Transit Communities Partnership for an exciting event on Tuesday, December 10th at Seattle Town Hall called People + Place: Action for a Sustainable Future. Please come for the morning, lunch, or both! You will have an opportunity to review all that was learned and produced through this project, as well as hear about next steps moving forward.
The morning program will feature perspectives from national experts in smart growth, place making, and sustainable prosperity, followed by a moderated panel discussion.
- John Hempelmann, Chairman — Cairncross & Hempelmann, Seattle, WA Moderator
- Shelley Poticha, Director, Urban Solutions — Natural Resources Defense Council, Washington, DC
- Fred Kent, President — Project for Public Spaces, New York, NY
- Gary Cunningham, Vice President and Chief Program Officer — the Northwest Area Foundation, St. Paul, MN
Following the morning program, the “Tapas and Topics” program includes an open house format. Participants may browse “street food” stations for a light lunch while networking and learning about transit-oriented development, housing, equity, and a regional “People + Place” typology for transit communities. Stations will highlight Growing Transit Communities Partnership key program areas, as well as the partners involved in the three Catalyst Demonstration Projects. Join interactive discussions about how to apply lessons learned to your community.
The event is free, but registration is required so we can plan for the number of attendees. AICP credit is available. For more information or to register, please visit our website, or contact Sara Maxana at smaxana@psrc.org or 206-971-3288.
