Yes. When ferries do not full serve the needs of the rural areas they serve, and WSF does not come close to fulfilling the need, the economic losses are staggering.
To the people who use the ferries, to the small burgs and small cities, the rural counties and even the State of Washington.
How many of us have idled in our vehicles up high on a hillside holding lane, not able to get out, take a walk, use a potty, or buy something to eat, to read, to play with? Those sales taxes are permanently lost revenue and hurt.
It is shameful how the lack of business experience in public agencies runs rampant.
