According to the orphan road blog, nextbus could be coming to Seattle. Matt @ Orphan Road: “According to my sources, the soon to be completed SLU streetcar will incorporate NextBus technology.”
Awesome!
Nextbus works great on SF Muni, except if the sign says the next 22 Filmore is coming in 45 minutes, what exactly are you supposed to do about that?
This is awesome. This could go a long way in making metro more friendly to more car-minded commuters.
I have heard a pilot project like this is being used on Metro route 358 along a limited number of stops on Aurora Ave.

If nothing else, you at least know you have about 40 mins to go find a coffee shop / bar / pizza place, grab a latté / beer / slice, and read / chat for a bit.
It’s still better than not knowing if there’s one just around the corner, since Murphy’s Law of Busses dictates that as soon as you’re out of sprinting distance of the stop (but can still see it), the bus you were waiting for will show up.

Yeah that’s what I always did.
Chris M, they were doing a pilot project on some stops of the 358 in 2005, but they took the screens down due to vandalism. :(
I read on the Portland blog that they were slightly unahppy with this system? If it is the same one they were talking about, I wonder if we will get a system that has some bugs worked out of the system? Seems they were saying that the times were off a bit? Not sure though, I more or less skim their blog. Anyone hear of anything like this before with this system?
I believe I also read on the Buschick blog that they have something similar to this at the Overlake Transit Center.
